A Fresh New Look for Fall

hair color, fall look

The air is crisp, the leaves are swirling, and change is definitely in the air. With the change in season, brings the need for me to spice things up a bit with my locks! Playing with color can be tons of fun and can give you such a great new, polished feeling. And, there is simply nothing like a fresh-cut!

There is no better place, or stylists, I would head to for a fresh new look, other than my girls Jen Spil Busch for color, and Nikki Prendergast for cut, at Fresh Salon in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Now let’s take a trip back in time first, before I found my salon and stylists. My hair has experienced many different cuts and colors throughout the years. Some of which I seriously look back and say, “What in the world was I thinking!” Well, to add more context to this history lesson, my hubs and I have actually been together for 21 years, married for 16 of those! With that being said, I always say to him, “Babe, that’s a LOT of hairstyles!” Because of many hair don’ts, I was terrified for a while to put color in my hair.

So let’s bring it back to the current date. Thankfully, I found Nikki many, many years ago, which led me to Fresh. She is seriously amazing and NO one else with scissors will ever come close to cutting my hair, ever again. I mean, I’m serious, did y’all catch that!? I will be featuring Nikki in the future, so be on the lookout.

After many years of just getting a fresh-cut, I finally took the plunge and trusted Jen to start playing with color…and I’ve never looked back! Occasionally, we change things up like we did this past weekend. No matter what she does, it turns out beautifully. Jen literally works magic with colors. I feel like a brand new person after she colors my hair!

My hair is a natural ash brown. So Jen keeps my roots and base a warm, chocolate brown{we like to use food names to describe the colors, hah!}. Until recently, we were sticking to more of the balayage look for variation. But, this time, we added some spice with more highlights from the top, leading into the variation at the bottom. Now, mind you I haven’t had highlights in FOREVER. Now, I wonder why I waited so long to try them again! They are extremely soft and subtle. Yet, they really pop with new depth and dimension! I feel like they add warmth and frame my face nicely. Again, I give the credit to Jen, who is such a pro at making me look and feel fabulous.

Fresh is honestly such a wonderful salon. Additionally, I always feel at home and special, each and every time I visit. Not to mention, they also make me smile and laugh, especially when they photo bomb…love it Dustin!

Additionally, Fresh uses products by Nick Arrojo! Ya’ll remember “What Not to Wear?” Yes, that’s him, the stylist in the early years of that show. His products rock and I use them on a constant, daily basis. My favorites are the shine spray and the cream whip[a conditioning, leave-in mousse}.

If you are in the Charlotte area and are looking for a new salon, this is the place!
