Happy Friday all! We made it! I’m certainly looking forward to the weekend and the nice “spring” like temps we are experiencing. It’s already making me long for a summer beach trip!
Speaking of trips, I wanted to finally share Nashville highlights with y’all. It’s most definitely a destination that you should add to your list for a long weekend. Navigating around the city is extremely easy and there are some many experiences to be had all over town. Needless to say, they are in no shortage of restaurants. We did our fair share of eating our way through the city! Additionally, there are several outdoor shopping areas, delightful places to walk around, and so many restaurants with outside dining options. I’ve recapped a few recommendations below.
Grand Ole Opry: While I am sure we were among some of the youngest in the crowd, I highly recommend seeing a show. Solid, live music is performed and ranges from traditional country, bluegrass to today’s modern country. In my opinion, nothing matches live music. Furthermore, they sprinkle in humor and history behind the Grand Ole Opry. The Opry is an integral part of the city’s history, so I certainly suggest visiting.
Music Row: This was additionally an experience not to miss for live music. Many up and coming artist, to those who are trying to get their breakout opportunity, perform up and down Music Row. What is mind-blowing is that so many of them are absolutely incredible. We ventured there when it was extremely crowded. But, that is the typical case on the weekends. So, prepare yourself if you go late at night. It’s more than worth it though. I was blown away at the talent. It’s an experience not to miss!
The Pharmacy: Okay, let’s talk burgers…AMAZING. Go get one. You won’t be sorry.
Bar Taco: I literally think I had the best fish tacos that I have ever eaten here. It’s nestled in the quaint area called 12 South. For starters, this little area is divine. Everyone is extremely friendly. You will find that everyone is strolling around the area with their families and pets. It’s truly a fun little location. Bar Taco is situated in the middle of 12 South, serving up the most deliciously fresh tacos, chips, salsa and guacamole. Again, this restaurant offered outdoor dining as mentioned for many in Nashville. If I lived in there, this restaurant would be a constant on my list.
Five Daughter’s Bakery: The Holy Grail of the cronut is found at Five Daughter’s Bakery. For years, I have longed to try one of these. This is another fave located in 12 South that you absolutely can’t pass up. My advice, go with an empty stomach, or take some to go for an afternoon treat or late night dessert. If you like croissants and doughnuts, you are going to be in heaven.
Valentino’s: This upscale restaurant serves up fresh and scrumptious house-made pastas. It provides an elegant and sophisticated atmosphere with heavenly dishes for the exquisite taste. The lobster ravioli was to die for!
Biscuit Love: Located in the swanky area called the Gulch, is a biscuit lover’s dream called Biscuit Love. These biscuits are mouth watering and seriously full of goodness. This place is known for long lines any day of the week. However, not sure if we just got lucky, but we went mid morning on a Monday and only waited for a few minutes.
The Merchant: Nestled in the heart of Music Row is The Merchant. Partioned into two stories, one including everyday American fare, to the upper level consisting of more delicate options, there is something to meet everyone’s taste buds. We chose the lower level so that we could dine outside on the street. Serving peppered popcorn for a quick starter in lieu of bread is a novelty for The Merchant, of which we greatly enjoyed. We selected the bacon mac and cheese for an appetizer that was simply out of this world. Followed by a blackened salmon and strawberry salad for myself and grilled chicken for Shay. We were thoroughly impressed and greatly enjoyed the atmosphere.
12 South Shopping: Okay, so yes, I love to shop. That’s no secret. 12 South simply has unique boutiques with a wide variety. Honestly, they range from home decor, denim, handbags, women’s clothing at Draper James, to handbags and shoes at Ceri Hoover. Ladies, you can certainly spend a lovely afternoon here by working on your retail therapy. On the day I chose to shop around, I also got lucky because the Daniel Wellington mobile watch shop was on location. I am over the moon for the watch I purchased. It’s so classic and timeless. I also scored the most adorable clutch from Ceri Hoover. Her bags are gorgeous and I absolutely love her story. Needless to say, you will love spending time shopping in 12 South.
Taking a trip to Nashville is certainly worth it. To be honest, it will be a repeat visit for us. This city has so much to offer that I didn’t get in everything that I wanted to experience. Add this to your travel list, you won’t be disappointed!
